Technology has changed almost everything about the way we work and now, it’s changing the way we present.
In the past, preparing for a presentation often meant standing in front of a mirror, running through our notes over and over again. These days, with the right tools and guidance, you can use video replay, artificial intelligence, and personalised data to transform the way you prepare, practise and perform.
As someone who has delivered over 1,050 masterclasses, I’ve never been more excited about where presentation skills training is heading. Because when we combine proven best-practice structures with smart technology, people learn faster, retain more, and feel more confident in every situation.
How Technology Is Changing the Way We Prepare and Rehearse
In my recent presentation training in Sydney – Next Gen Presenting – a team from a major furniture retailer joined me to explore how AI and presentation mastery can work hand-in-hand.
The goal was simple: to help professionals use AI prompts to build persuasive, structured presentations more efficiently. We used prompts to brainstorm openings, improve storytelling, and generate persuasive calls to action.
And here’s what stood out most to me.
Even though the AI prompts are powerful, some participants didn’t immediately see their value because they didn’t yet understand why certain presentation elements mattered in the first place.
That was my light-bulb moment.
AI can enhance best practice, but it can’t replace it. If you don’t understand what great presenting looks and feels like, you won’t know how to use technology to make it better.
That’s where my real-world, evidence-based presentation skills training in Sydney comes in.
The Foundation: Best-Practice Structure Meets Smart Tech
Behind every confident, credible presenter is a clear structure. Think of it like building a stage you need solid foundations before you can add the spotlight and sound effects.
Here’s how I explain it to my clients:
Stage floor = 4MAT – The foundational framework created by Dr Bernice McCarthy. It gives your presentation structure, logic and flow so your audience always knows where you’re taking them.
Set design & blocking = The Persuasion Blueprint – My own methodology that guides you on what to say, where to stand, how to move, and how to deliver your message with confidence and intention.
Lighting & costume = Persuasive Types (Persuasion Smart Profile®) – Another tool I developed to help people flex their personal approach so they’re persuasive with every type of audience.
When these three layers come together – 4MAT, the Persuasion Blueprint, and the Persuasion Smart Profile – you have the perfect stage for success. And remember as Shakespeare said, “all the world’s a stage”.
Now add technology to the mix – AI brainstorming tools, virtual rehearsals, and digital feedback platforms and suddenly, your preparation becomes smarter, faster, and more focused.
That’s what I call Next Gen Presenting.
Why AI Prompts Work Best on a Strong Foundation
AI can write slides, suggest phrasing, and even generate confidence-building exercises. But it can’t feel the heartbeat of a room. It can’t read an audience’s energy or adjust tone mid-sentence. That’s where human skill still wins every time.
When you’ve mastered the core structure of a persuasive talk, AI becomes your creative assistant, not your crutch. It helps you generate ideas, refine messaging, and practise delivery more efficiently.
Of course, it’s only effective when you already know what “great” looks like. That’s why the best approach is a balance of technology and training, not one or the other.
The clients from the furniture retailer told me that after applying my prompts to their newly learned frameworks, their ideas flowed faster and their confidence skyrocketed. They realised AI wasn’t doing the work for them; it was helping them shine.
The Human Touch: Real Coaching Still Matters
While I love how technology accelerates learning, I’ll never stop believing in the power of real human connection.
People don’t just need software, they need someone who can see their potential, celebrate their wins, and gently guide them when fear gets in the way.
That’s what we do together in my public presentation skills workshop in Sydney. It’s a supportive, energising environment where you can experiment, make mistakes, receive uplifting feedback, and see instant results.
Every participant is different, and after decades of coaching, I know when to push someone a little harder and when to step back and let them enjoy a smaller win. That balance of care and challenge is what makes training with me so effective.
The Future of Presentation Skills
Technology will keep evolving, and so will the way we present. But one thing will never change – presenting is still about connection.
When you combine a solid technical foundation with modern tools, you create something extraordinary: confident communicators who can adapt, engage, and influence.
That’s why my public presentation skills course in Sydney blends the best of both worlds – structure, science, and smart technology – all delivered with warmth, laughter, and genuine care.
If you’re ready to experience what’s possible, join my next presentation skills course. You’ll discover how exciting it feels to finally present with clarity, confidence, and that special spark that only comes from mastering both the art and the science of persuasion.
